It was a scene straight from Dragons' Den, as community groups and sports teams in Attleborough nervously pitched ideas in the hope of securing a slice of a £10,000 council cash pot.
But instead of a grilling by the likes of Duncan Bannatyne and Deborah Meaden, it was mayor Karen Pettitt, councillors and businessmen and women who decided their fate.
The event at Attleborough town hall on Thursday, February 26 saw groups which had applied to the Pride in Breckland Participatory Budgeting funding find out whether they would be walking away with a cash boost.
After giving their presentations, 13 lucky groups were presented amounts ranging from £400 to £1,000.
Mrs Pettitt said: 'It was a lovely evening and great to see just what a diverse amount of clubs and groups are situated in and around Attleborough.
'It was really quite staggering to hear just what an impact getting this money would have to each group.
'Several groups told how grateful they were to Breckland for having this opportunity on a local level to help local small groups and clubs. I am very pleased to have been a part of this.'
Artline, Attleborough Boxing Club, Attleborough Day Centre, Attleborough Town Football Club, Nurture by Nature Forest School, Old Buckenham Parish Council and Village Hall, ShootAbility and the Lighthouse Charity were all given £1,000 to help cover costs and buy new facilities and equipment.
Meanwhile, the Old Buckenham Cricket Club received £900, the Old Buckenham Village Hall Committee and the Breckland Astronomical Society were given £500, the Club 99 Attleborough Summer Playscheme left with £682 and the 1st and 5th Attleborough Brownies were given £400.
