A donation has been made to a cancer support centre by a prominent housebuilder.
Denbury Homes has given £5,000 to the Star Throwers Cancer Support Centre in Wymondham.
The centre, established in 2008, offers a range of services to cancer patients and their families, including counselling, nutrition guidance and group activities.
With a growing demand for their services, Star Throwers delivered more than 300 counselling sessions to 197 individuals last year.
These funds will enable the provision of about 200 additional counselling sessions in the coming months.
During a recent visit to Star Throwers, the Denbury Homes team had the opportunity to interact with the dedicated staff including counsellor Yasmin Fryer and nurse Tina Hales.
Victoria Pigg, operations and fundraising manager at Star Throwers, said: “This grant is fantastic news and will make a significant impact on the number of sessions we can offer with our specialist counsellors.
"As well as supporting patients throughout their journey we understand the impact that a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on the entire family so offer counselling for them too.”
Joshua Hopkins, charitable fund and land director at Denbury Homes, said: “The service that Star Throwers offers to cancer patients provides a huge amount of comfort to them and their families.
"Speaking to Yasmin, Tina, and Beverley - one of the service users they support - it’s plain to see the compassion and positivity that runs through the whole team.
"We are delighted our grant will allow Star Throwers to provide even more counselling sessions over the coming year.”
Star Throwers also provides interactive information sessions, lymphedema and nutrition clinics, and a range of activities including crafts and exercise classes.
The charity is not associated with a specific hospital, so service users are usually referred by GPs, cancer nurses or other charities.
The grant was facilitated by the Norfolk Community Foundation.
