Two primary school pupils have shown their initiative to help support people who have lost their hair due to illness.

Delilah and Olivia, who are in year four at Hethersett Woodside Primary, know someone who has had to go through cancer treatment.

The Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years old, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

The girls decided to arrange a homemade jewellery and cake sale, with items donated by Hethersett's local Tesco shop.

Olivia plans to donate her cut hair to the charity to help make wigs for those in need.

This action received support from their classmates and parents of which many went along to the sale.

Their efforts have culminated in raising some £209.88 for the charity.

Woodside headteacher, Louise Mainwaring, said: "They wrote to our school community to advertise their sale and were so happy that lots of parents and children came along.

"We are all so proud of these girls!"
