Norfolk teacher Alan Thompson becomes author in Spain

Alan Thompson, who was known to students as Mr T, taught at Wymondham College, Chapel Break First School and Dereham Church Middle School between 1982 and 2006.

"I have great memories from my years in Norfolk - the children were always enthusiastic to learn and up for a challenge," he said.

"I've always dabbled with writing but it was my move to teach in an immersion school in Spain that led to my first book."

He has written in several genres and under two pseudonyms, Jeremy Dean and Tom Alan.

His first book, Hitting the Jackpot, is a romantic comedy about a man hiding his lottery jackpot from his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Zen Kyu Maestro, on the other hand, is a memoir about his own experience teaching Spanish children.

Mr Thompson said his latest novel, The Last App, is a thrilling psychological drama which is published by Bloodhound Books.

"In it, Mick Strong buys a new app for each member of his extended family: his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandson," he said.

"The app will tell them when they are going to die.

"Unsurprisingly, not all of his relatives are pleased with their gift and the story follows the ensuing mayhem."

Mr Thompson said he hopes to spend more time writing now he is approaching retirement age.
