An independent business owner is preparing to move into her new premises in Attleborough.

Ruth Codling is a dispensing optician who has been self-employed since 2015 when she launched Clarity Colorimetry from her home in Hethersett.

Clarity, which is opening in Connaught Plain, specialises in offering overlays and prescription tinted glasses to help people with visual stress in their eyes.

"Visual stress - also known as meares irlen - is still fairly unknown and is often confused with dyslexia so I am trying to raise awareness of it," Ms Codling said.

"I have been to several schools to talk to them about it and show them how to carry out overlay assessments.

"I see people of all ages - some who suffer from migraines and many with other health conditions that have been helped wearing tinted lenses."

​Ms Codling moved to Attleborough after her divorce and she has since been active in the community by joining the Attleborough Funfest Team with nine other local business owners.

"I’m really looking forward to moving into my new premises in town as I will have more of a presence on the high street," Ms Codling explained.

"I want to help as many people as possible so this will potentially enable me to do so."

She added her new office will have an upstairs space that she would like to use for future community events.

"I would love to hold craft workshops for up to 12 people and I’m hoping to find experienced crafters who can host classes. 

"I will also rent the space out for small meetings and my best friend lives across the road and has a business called Sweet-Ness, so she can do food platters and afternoon tea to compliment the meetings."
