A town centre was closed following the discovery of a burst water main in a busy street.
Church Street in Attleborough had to be closed yesterday for emergency repairs after the water main burst on Sunday.
Anglian Water started work to fix the problem on Sunday but the road remained closed for the majority of the day while it was resurfaced, leaving the town with traffic problems and business concerns.
A spokeswoman for Anglian Water said: "Our teams are now reinstating the road to make it safe for road users.
"All going well, the road should be reopened by the end of today."
Tony Perkins, who owns a butcher shop in Church Street, said: "There is no passing traffic and nobody can drive into the town.
"It's not my ideal start after a bank holiday weekend.
"Nobody has told us what's happening, there were no workmen on site until just before 11am today."
Anglia Water apologised for the disruption and thanked "customers for their patience".
The road was re-opened yesterday evening.
