1. The Aylsham Show

Where: Blickling Estate, Blickling, NR11 6NF

When: Monday, August 26, 8am-7pm

The Aylsham Show returns to the National Trust's Blickling Estate for its 76th edition at the end of August. 

Expect a jam-packed programme in the Main Ring, including quad bike stuntman Paul Hannam and The Jump Dogs Parachute Display Team.

There will also be a funfair, farming competitions, stalls, tasty food and drink and much more.

2. Summer Gift Fair

Where: Creake Abbey, North Creake, NR21 9LF

When: Saturday, August 24, 10am-4pm

The Summer Gift Fair will take place at Creake Abbey, located a stone’s throw from the ruins of an Augustinian Abbey, with more than 90 local stallholders.

This includes Civil Block Microsoapery with natural and sustainable soaps and The Accidental Wonky Bag Company repurposing old dinghy sails into brightly coloured bags.

3. Maui Waui Festival

Where: Hill Farm, Gressenhall, NR19 2NR

When: Friday, August 23-Sunday, August 25

Price: Weekend camping ticket - adults: £160, teens (14-17): £80, ages 13 and under: free, day and group tickets available, mauiwauievents.co.uk

Expect live music, with an Americana takeover on Sunday, cabaret acts, wellness areas, a circus tent, the Maui's Got Talent competition, a living art show and much more.

Activities in the huge Kids Area include wacky racing, bubble craft and bouncy castles and new for 2024 is live comedy on Friday and Saturday.

4. Norwich Games Convention

Where: Norwich University of the Arts (Duke Street, NR3 3AS), The Oak Circus Centre (Oak Street, NR3 3AE), Norwich Castle (Castle Street, NR1 3JU)

When: Saturday, August 24, Norwich University of the Arts: 9am-4pm, The Oak Circus Centre: 9am-9pm, Norwich Castle: 6pm-10pm

Price: General entry (doesn't include Norwich Castle): ages 12+: £6, under 12s: free, separate tickets required for game sessions and other events, norwichgames.uk

The Norwich Games Convention will feature board games, tabletop role-playing games, a bring-and-buy sale, a trade hall, live events, local food and drink and much more. 

The Norwich Castle activities will take place in the evening in the rotunda and lecture theatre.

5. Langham Street Fayre

Where: Holt Road, Langham, NR25 7BX

When: Saturday, August 24, 10am-4pm, 6.30pm until late

Price: Free entry, funds raised go to local charities, parking is £3 a car which will be signposted

The Langham Street Fayre returns for its 50th anniversary this summer and the main street running through the village will be closed to traffic.

During the day, expect craft stalls, traditional games, live music, a dog show, a tractor and classic car display, a raffle, street food vendors, a barbecue and a bar.

After a short break, there will be live music from 6.30pm featuring the Blakeney Old Wild Rovers and Night Train.

6. Norwich Theatre's Open Day

Where: Norwich Theatre Royal & Stage Two, Theatre Street, Norwich, NR2 1RL

When: Saturday, August 24, 10am-3pm

Price: Free entry

Go behind the scenes at Norwich Theatre Royal and sister venue Stage Two, with drop-in guided tours starting in the box office foyer throughout the day. 

Book in advance at norwichtheatre.org for audio-described and quiet tours and tech talks. 

Other free activities include a family trail, face painting and the chance to try on costumes.

7. Norfolk Plant Heritage Fair

Where: Hethersett Village Hall, Hethersett, NR9 3JJ

When: Sunday, August 25, 10am-1pm

Price: £2 (free to members) 

The Norfolk Plant Heritage Group encourages its members to grow historic, unusual and threatened plants.

They hold two plant fairs each year, attended by local and national nurseries, with the second one of 2024 over the August bank holiday weekend.
